Rob Hafele - your next town of Colchester supervisor

About me

Born and raised in Downsville, I currently live in my family homestead on the Warren Farm.

After a 33+ year career with the New York State Police, I entered a service retirement with the rank of Zone Sergeant.  I have posted my full professional resume on this website for all to review (link in the Header).

Volunteering for Public Service

The decision to raise your hand to enter into local politics takes courage and determination.  I applaud those that have volunteered to serve in the past, in any capacity; from town clerk, to justice, to board member.  The current town of Colchester supervisor has served 12 years, and I thank him for his service.

Running for office

I have been attending the town of Colchester town board meetings for the last 4-5 years as a member of the public.  In 2023,  I was appointed as an alternate to the town Planning Board.  In 2024, I was appointed as a full member of the Planning Board and continue to serve in that capacity.  I am also a member of the Colchester Historical Society.

Training obtained since deciding to run for the office of town supervisor

I have continued my education by participating in the following training:

March 19 - 2025 DEC Freshwater

Wetlands Regulations  (√ -completed)

April 8 & 9 -  Floodplain Administrator Basic Training Course (√ -completed)

May 1 - Delaware County Soil and Water Conservation District -  DEC sponsored Erosion and Sediment Control Training (√ -completed)

Pledges

February, 2025

  • Integrity - Honesty, trust, fairness, responsibility & respect for all.

  • Availability - I will hold regular, posted office hours at the Town Hall in Downsville AND also hold posted office hours in Cooks Falls.

  • Transparency - We will be recording and/or broadcasting our town board meetings for all to see.

  • Timeliness efficiency - We have to finish town projects that have not yet been completed.

  • Fiscal responsibility  - Of course, this is one of the most important traits to possess.  I am frugal (some call me cheap).  We should spend good money on good projects.   Spending taxpayer money is a huge responsibility for any elected official.

  • County Board of Supervisors - The interests of the citizens of the town of Colchester will be my first priority.   The supervisor is the primary liaison with other area townships, county, state & federal agencies.  I have been attending the Board of Supervisors meetings, but am now starting to attend the various committee meetings (which is where all the real work happens).
